Cognitronics: Resource-efficient Architectures for Cognitive Systems
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Ruckert, Universitat Bielefeld

Cognitronics deals with the development of integrated circuits for resource-efficient realisation of cognitive systems.

The recent switch to parallel microprocessors is considered as a milestone in this context.

Industry has laid out a roadmap for multi-core designs promising to double the number of cores on a chip with each silicon generation.

Since biological cognitive operating principles are naturally parallel, transferring them to technical systems will stimulate innovative products with new characteristics and a considerably higher user-friendliness.

This talk gives an overview on our approach to embedded multiprocessing in cognitive systems.
